My Podcasting Set-up

This is what I’m using at the moment to do podcasts with. I really like it and it’s pretty easy to use. Click the pics to see them bigger on flickr!
Mic: Studio Products B1 pretty good to get 10 & 20 db pads on for that price!
Mixer: The podcaster’s friend the Behringer UB802
Audio Interface: The very neat and nice Behringer FCA202
Desktop stand and pop shield (or table tennis bat as my Mum  calls it!) from www.maplin.co.uk
Funky Blue XLR lead from www.allangordon.co.uk hand made to order from the best bits at brilliant prices and just a brilliant company!
And a Mac Mini running Garageband.

Very nice setup, James. So do you record onto the Mac Mini? Which Mini is it?

  2. Dan Says:

That is some setup how much did it all cost?

  3. james Says:

Not as much as you might think (of course that depends on what you might think!! ;-)

This is wher I got it all from (not including the mac!):

    Mic - http://www.dv247.com/invt/2859/
    Mixer - http://www.proaudiostore.co.uk/music_production/mixers/behringer/ub802/index.html great value!
Interface - http://www.proaudiostore.co.uk/sound_cards/firewire_audio_interfaces/behringer/fca202/index.html and you get a 6-6 and 6-4 firewire cable, which can easily set you back over £10 each on their own!
Patch cables (the red and white leads going form the mixer to the interface) - http://www.proaudiostore.co.uk/cables/patch_cables/stagg/pc03pp/index.html and I’ve got four spare, brill!
    Stand - http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=28802&criteria=mic%20stand&doy=30m8
Pop guard - http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=31676&criteria=pop&doy=30m8 good old maplin!!!
    XLR see, see the post!
    Phones - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-MDR-V150-Headphones-reversible-monitoring/dp/B00005QBU9/ref=sr_11_1/026-1732255-7287619?ie=UTF8
not the best, but they do the job great for me!

So overall, it’s not a bank breaker! And I think a very good investment, should last years. The firewire can go into a pc or mac, but I like Garageband, I couldn’t get my head round the PC software that came with it!
