ministrypool.com
I’m pleased to annouce that I’ve just got http://ministrypool.com/ up and running.
ministrypool is a new way of using domain names in ministry and the church. The pool which contains top quality, easy to remember, domain names for use in ministry and Church marketing projects.
You can also use the pool (aka me!) to register a new domain (saving you the hassle) and donate any old christian domains that you’re nolonger using to the pool so other can make use of them. It also stops any ‘web nasties’ getting their mucky paws on them!
So if you need a domain name for use in Christian ministry, ministrypool is the place to start!

firefox tooltip strangeness
A few days ago I installed a few new extensions in firefox (the accessibility toolbar, the del.icio.us bookmarks etc.) and suddenly I lost all tooltips within firefox!
No tooltips on pages, on the toolbars or with forecastfox/gmail manager etc.
I looked all around the web and forums and could I find anything, well no!
But then doing a google for +firefox +disable +tooltip I found this post and indeed it turns out that this, somehow, had been set to false! So I changed it to true and we’re all back in business. I’m not sure what extension did it though…

another way to sync my ipod with google calendar!
I found this post with a very long url and it looked very interesting.
However, the wget archive mentioned doesn’t seem to be around anymore.
But not to be deterred, I tried it using the files from this archive: http://www.christopherlewis.com/WGet/WGetFiles.htm and success!
But it wasn’t quite that easy… I had to change a couple of things in the bat file to get it to work!
My bat file now looks something like:
cd Calendars
..\wget -t 45 -N http://www.google.com/calendar/ical/the-rest-of-your-private-ical.ics
Because:
- The directory on my ipod is ‘Calendars’ not ‘Calendar’
- I found you don’t add the -N it adds a new file every time you run it rather than over-writing the existing file
- -t 45 means that if there’s a slow connection it won’t time out
- and remember to change the url of the .ics to have a proper @ in the user name not an &40 !
Stick a shortcut to the bat file on your desktop (or wherever) and updating your google calendar and ipod is a ’sync’h

And a Mac Mini running Garageband.
