google accessible search

Just read on the offfical google blog about their new accessible search:

http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2006/07/finding-easy-to-read-web-content_20.html

http://labs.google.com/accessible/

I tried a search on ‘christmas’ and my site, www.whychristmas.com came out at no. 5!!!!  I’m really surprised.  I try to code as accessible as I can and I guess this proves I’m doing it right!

Great work google!

Why do you think I’m still with you!!!!!!

I ported my number to virgin mobile over 18 months ago, yet you and your ’speciailly selected marketing friends’ are still calling me!!!

WWWWHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYY?!?!?!!?!?!!?

Ah, now that feels better, nothing like a blog rant to get it out of your system.

google earth beta 4

I’ve been playing with this as well today (can you see a theme?!).  So much nicer than google earth 3 (and i really liked that!).  The new nav is very easy to use and the google sketchup buliding are really cool!

I hadn’t heard of sketchup before, but it’s downloaded and waiting to be installed…

stellarium

Back in the good old 3.1 and win 95 days, I used to use a good little astronomy porgram called skyglobe.  Sadly it didn’t like xp…

So I’ve been looking for a replacement and yesterday I found Stellarium and one word, WOW!  It does take a bit of ‘playing with’ and the manual is worth reading (and for once is actually readable!) to get the best out of it, but it’s well worth it.

What’s really nice is that it comes in all flavours of OS, so everyone can now have their own planetaruim!

Tour de France podcasts

It’s great to see some broadcasters and a team starting to use podcast to communicate.

ITV (uk) and the Discovery Channel team have got podcasts.  As a big lance fan, I’m sticking with DSC this year, so go george!
